Product Description
Surfactant by Guangzhou Zhifan Chemical Co., Ltd.
Surfactant, a cornerstone of innovative chemistry, also referred to as an interfacial agent, is a dynamic compound that proficiently diminishes the surface tension or interfacial tension between two disparate phases - whether they be liquid and liquid, liquid and gas, or liquid and solid. This transformative ability makes surfactants an essential component in a multitude of applications, delivering unmatched efficacy and results.
Reducing Surface Tension
Reducing surface tension is the quintessential function of surfactants. A liquid's surface layer possesses an innate macroscopic tension, striving to minimize its surface area, known as surface tension. When surfactants are introduced, they craft a delicate film over the liquid surface, reshaping the molecular alignment and effectively diminishing the surface tension.
Forming Micelles
Micelles are structured molecular clusters that emerge abundantly in aqueous solutions once a critical surfactant concentration is reached.
Surfactants dissolved in water initially disperse as individual molecules or align on the solution's surface to alleviate surface tension. Upon saturating the surface, surfactant molecules transition into the solution's interior. The surfactant's hydrophobic section has minimal water affinity, while its hydrophilic section exhibits strong mutual attraction. At a pivotal concentration, the hydrophobic segments of numerous surfactant molecules (typically ranging from 50 to 150) coalesce to form micelles, with potential configurations including spherical, lamellar, and rod-like structures.

Product Description
(1) Emulsification: Oils exhibit elevated surface tension when mixed with water. If oil is vigorously stirred into water, it breaks into tiny droplets forming an unstable emulsion, which will eventually separate. However, with surfactant addition, the emulsion stabilizes even post-stirring. This phenomenon, known as emulsification, arises because the oil's hydrophobic properties are enveloped by the surfactant's hydrophilic groups, creating a directional pull that enhances emulsification.
(2) Wetting: Surfaces often accumulate hydrophobic layers like wax or grease, complicating water wetting. By introducing surfactants into the solution, water droplets disperse effortlessly across these surfaces, drastically lowering surface tension and achieving effective wetting.
(3) Solubilization: The integration of surfactants is pivotal for dissolving oil substances, achievable when surfactant concentration surpasses the critical colloid point. Solubility is contingent on the solubilized entity and its attributes. Notably, long hydrophobic chains outperform short ones, saturated chains overshadow unsaturated ones, and nonionic surfactants generally exhibit superior solubilization attributes.
(4) Dispersion Effect: Solid particles, such as dust and dirt, naturally conglomerate and settle in water. Surfactant molecules can fragment these clusters into minute particles, facilitating their even distribution throughout the solution.
(5) Foaming Effect: 390d8fe8
